Vivaldi Mandolin Concerto in C
Vivaldi's Mandolin Concerto in C, RV 425, is one of the most famous pieces written for mandolin. Now you can play this charming concerto even if you don't have any mandolin players!
This composition can be played by 19,073,340 different combinations of instruments (really!).
A few notes on the parts and instruments:
- The standard ("std") parts are the original parts and are designed to be played together.
- The alternate "a" parts, if present, are raised one octave (8va) and can be substituted for a standard part to accommodate the higher instruments listed. They should work as long as they are above the other parts.
- The alternate "b" parts, if present, are lowered one octave (8vb) and can be substituted for a standard part to accommodate the lower instruments listed. They should work as long as they are below the other parts.
- For example, using parts 1, 2, and 3 together is definitely ok. Using parts 1a, 2, and 3b together is probably ok. Using parts 1b, 2, and 3a together might not work well.
- Part ranges are listed in concert key, where C4 is middle C.

Buy Version v01 ($12.99)
This version is for 3 solo instruments accompanied by quartet, giving it the feel of a concerto grosso. It includes all three movements of the concerto. The solo lines have been enhanced to fill in more harmony, which allows lovely interactions and antiphonal effects between the three soloists.
Solo instruments can be various combinations of flute, oboe, clarinet, violin, and viola. The ripieno accompaniment can be:
- String quartet (violin/viola, violin/viola, viola, cello/bass)
- Woodwind quartet (flute/oboe/clarinet, flute/oboe/clarinet, clarinet/alto clarinet, bassoon/bass clarinet)
- Mixed quartet
Both the solo and the ripieno are rather demanding for woodwind stamina, even though the individual notes are not difficult.
